I hope you all had a nice weekend. The air has been crisp lately here in New Haven, but spring is definitely in the air! Fun fact: On this day 14 years ago, I defended my PhD! That summer, I started my postdoc with Prof. Mooseker in MCDB…and I never left! Not so fun fact, but I’m hopeful that things are looking up: One year ago, this week was crazy. Usually, this day falls within Spring Recess, when we don’t send out Dean’s Notes, so I figured I’d share some nostalgia. ;)
I strongly encourage you to take some time to decompress tomorrow. I appreciated Dean Chun’s e-mails about the Break Days last week, both to students and faculty. Leah and I will be taking this 2nd Break Day off, so please make note of that. Yale Degree Audit: Yale Degree Audit (YDA) is a tool that tracks your progress toward the bachelor’s degree. YDA is located on the Academics tab of Student Information System (SIS). YDA displays the Yale College degree requirements that you have already completed and those that are still pending. A “Look Ahead” feature shows you how future course enrollment might apply toward your degree. If you believe that academic information in your degree audit is incorrect, contact our office.

Trumbull Writing Tutor: Adam Sexton is the Trumbull College Writing Tutor. Adam teaches three courses in the English department (“Reading and Writing the Modern Essay,” "Writing About Music," and “Reading Fiction for Craft”) and is a Critic in the graduate School of Art. Adam is also a writer; his next book, "Difficult Listening," is due to be published in 2021.

The Yale College Dean's Office & The Office of Gender & Campus Culture are hiring two Student Affairs Fellows (SAF)! Interested applicants (this is a post-grad position) should apply online here. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with the first round of virtual interviews beginning March 11th, 2021.
A SAF's core role is to collaboratively lead and manage Communication & Consent Educators (CCEs), Project Coordinators (PCs), & oversee Project Teams. Additionally, they're responsible for planning, preparing, and facilitating hundreds of workshops across campus for undergraduate students & organizations. In this capacity, they'd also have the opportunity to contribute to the office's long-term plans (including significantly shaping the emergent 5 yr. vision) through staff meetings, professional development, and university-wide committee membership.

The Urban Resources Initiative (URI) is looking to fill several remote GreenSkills Supervisor positions for an internship offered to students from Common Ground High School and The Sound School beginning mid-March through May of 2021. The role of the GreenSkills Supervisor would be to supervise and offer guidance to a group of 3-4 high school students as they craft an environmental or social justice initiative, such as a social media campaign.
