Hello Trumbullians!
As the semester rolls into its fourth week, and things are beginning to pick up pace. For example, the CPA award results have been announced, I hear murmurs of midterms and project deadlines, as well as housing discussions which are on top of minds of juniors and seniors. For all of these concerns, may I suggest patience – as these all take their due time and most of these worries usually work out at the end.
As for events within our Trumbull grounds, the Mellon Forum on Monday evening at HoC House had four great presentations from seniors with delicious food from House of Naan, and the discussions after the presentations persisted into the courtyards.
Below are events already on the calendar. Please be on the lookout for spring activities, as many are being planned and will be posted shortly.

Some comments about keeping our community clean. The spaces allocated for trash and recycling (at least in the basement area near the Trumbull kitchen and elevator) need to be kept clean and tidy. We have noticed that disposal of trash and recycling has been EXTREMELY careless in these areas, which in turn creates an invitation to unwanted guests. So please take extra precaution when you are throwing trash and/or recycling.
Alessandra Pappalardi TC ’26 is one of Dwight Hall’s Volunteer Coordinators who is responsible for leading weekly service opportunities associated Dwight Hall’s Service Series, a program designed to build substantial relationships between service-inclined Yale students and the broader New Haven community. Are you interested in the joys of service towards New Haven working as a volunteer? Perhaps you should consider the Open Opportunities Service Spreadsheet which is a live document, and each week it will be updated with new opportunities! Download the Dwight Hall Service Series Google Calendar so that you may directly map your schedules onto the volunteer events of the week. Some of all of their service opportunities are Sunrise Café, Co-Op After School, Clothing Sort, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and New Haven Tutoring Initiative. If you have questions about your calls for service, please contact Mark Fopeano, Dwight Hall Director of Programming, or Alessandra Pappalardi, Lead Service Coordinator.
The Development Coordinators for Camp Kesem at Yale writes to inform you that Camp Kesem puts on a free, week-long summer camp for children who have a parent that has been affected by cancer. At camp, they provide a space not only for kids to have fun, but for campers to be kids again and connect with kids facing similar struggles. They believe in camp being fully accessible to all children regardless of socioeconomic background, which is why their student volunteers raise the necessary funds every year to send over 140 kids to camp completely free of charge. This year, they are planning on hosting a 5K on April 12th at 10 am on the Farmington Canal Trail to help fundraise for Camp Kesem. They are hoping to make this event as exciting as possible for participants by providing all of our runners with a FREE T-shirt and color powder, as well as encouraging them to run with friends. The cost for each participant is $30. The first 5 students who write to me about this Kesem 5K Run, we will sponsor them as runners for this cause. The deadline for this request is February 20th at 12pm. Past this Trumbull College deadline, you are able to register yourself to make donations at this Kesem at Yale classy page or just signup in this Google form so you can get the right T-shirt for the run.
The Taiwanese American Society (TAS) is a cultural group dedicated to spreading awareness of the cultural, political, and social aspects of Taiwanese American students. More information could be found here on their website. From their website, the Taiwanese American Society is non-exclusive and welcomes with open arms all who are interested in Taiwan, China, or East Asian culture in general regardless of year or background. Please note that TAS will be using the Trumbutt tonight (Feb 6th) from 9pm-12am for an event they are hosting. Since the Buttery is normally closed on Fridays, this would not interfere with regular programming.
Spring semester IMs are upon us, with MHOOPS (Men’s Basketball), CHOOPS (co-ed basketball), WHOOPS (women’s basketball), BROOMBALL (basically hockey without skates), and DODGEBALL (dodge the ball)) and many more events. Below is the continuing list of our upcoming events. Moo-Rah!
Stay safe and stay warm in this cold stretch of the semester! If you are planning to getaway during Spring Break, please find out about travel requirements beforehand.
Sincerely,
HoC Hyder
