TRUMBULL COLLEGE DEAN’S NOTES: October 9, 2023

I hope you enjoyed Family Weekend, whether you spent time with your family, your Trumbull family, or both!  It was so nice to meet many families at the reception at Head Hyder’s house on Saturday.

Guess what?  October break is coming up next week!  I know that for many, if not all of you, this break is coming at the perfect time.  We all need a break (myself included!).  Taking breaks keeps us healthy, both mentally and physically.  At the same time, I wish you all the best with your work this week. It is a busy time!  Some folks might have just finished up a wave of midterm work and others are in the thick of it right now. Look out for one another and be kind.

I want to remind you that YC3 is available for 1:1 support to students.  You can book appointments with their Wellness Specialists (shoutout to Whitney Simmons, who is affiliated with Trumbull) or College Care Clinicians directly on their website.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out to them: https://yalecollege.yale.edu/getting-help/yale-college-community-care-yc3.

**Please note that Alice will be out of the office from Wednesday, October 11 through the October Recess.  She will return on Monday, October 23rd.  During that time, please direct your queries to me, continue to utilize Calendly, noting my open Zoom hours on the top of that page, and take note of the sign on the office door, particularly when you have an in-person meeting scheduled with me.  Thank you.**

Finally, get your flu shot if you haven’t already!  We (Sahej, Dr. Singh & I) got our flu shots last week!  Flu shot info here: https://yalehealth.yale.edu/topic/flu-information.

And don’t forget to scroll all the way through the weekly DNs – there are a bunch of blurbs under “Other”, including info about applying to be a CCE!

Meeting with me
To make an appointment, please use the Calendly scheduling tool, https://calendly.com/dean_c.  Please reach out to Alice with any scheduling issues.  For in-person meetings, please come to the office. We’re right here in Trumbull G104, which you can access across from Entryway A or through Entryway G. Zoom meetings (including open Zoom office hours) will be through my Zoom page: https://yale.zoom.us/my/skchandhoke

My OPEN ZOOM office hours for each week are listed on the top of my Calendly page. When you click on the Zoom link, you will be placed into a waiting room. I will speak to students (one-on-one) in the order they “arrive”.  My upcoming open hours are on FRIDAY, October 13th (10-11:30am and 2:30-4pm).

Please note that I teach on Wednesday mornings during the fall term.
