Dean’s Notes 11-13-23

November 13, 2023

TRUMBULL COLLEGE DEAN’S NOTES: November 13, 2023

Hope you’re enjoying the sunny, crisp weather (I love it)!  As you know, Registration for Spring 2024 opens up this week, starting today with Class of 2024. This is a good time to reach out to your College Adviser, Departmental Adviser and/or DUS, if you haven’t already.  Please take note of my open Zoom hours, which are listed below and are always in the little blurb at the top of my Calendly page.  No appt required and the most efficient way for me to maximize the number of students I speak to during busy weeks.  This is also an opportunity to remind you to please %20alice.kustenbauder@yale.edu">copy Alice on e-mails to me.  She can answer many academic questions and she is amazing at keeping me on track.  Also, feel free to stop by the office when you have a question (we have snacks ;)).

Since there won’t be Dean’s Notes next week, I’ll also take a moment now to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving.  You all make my life here in Trumbull and at Yale incredibly rewarding – Trumbull is also the only home that Sahej has ever known, so the people who make Trumbull what it is are family, including all of you.  Thank you for that.  I hope that I’ll get to see many of you at the Harvest Dinner on Thursday in the dining hall.

Special thanks to our amazing FroCos (Angel, Colson, Eileen, Hannah, Hedy, Matt, & Resty) whose warmth, compassion and creativity has been instrumental in creating community in Bingham and among our frosh.  Thank you to Head Hyder for a wonderful new partnership in Trumbull and the continued partnership with Deb, Reese, Kodi & Karen.  And of course, Alice, HUGE thank you to her – I am so grateful for her daily collaboration, her brilliance, and her friendship.

I think most everyone has a busy week ahead, but break isn’t far away – hang in there!  Be safe and have fun at The GameAll the best to our football players!  As I said to our frosh during Fireside chats last week, though the game was home in 2021, guests weren’t technically allowed, so it’s really just our super-seniors who remember 2019’s Game.  I’m looking forward to the game and can’t wait to see the many Trumbull alums who will be coming into town. Have a great week and break!

Meeting with me (please take note of additional OPEN Zoom hours)
To make an appointment, please use the Calendly scheduling tool, https://calendly.com/dean_c.  Please reach out to Alice with any scheduling issues.  For in-person meetings, please come to the office. Zoom meetings (including open Zoom office hours) will be through my Zoom page: https://yale.zoom.us/my/skchandhoke

My OPEN ZOOM office hours for each week are listed on the top of my Calendly page. When you click on the Zoom link, you will be placed into a waiting room. I will speak to students (one-on-one) in the order they “arrive”.  My upcoming open hours are on Tuesday 11/14 (3:30-4:30pm); Wednesday 11/15 (4:30-5:30pm); Thursday 11/16 (3:30-4:30pm); and Friday 11/17 (10am-noon).
