Shannon Sommers

Shannon Sommers imageShannon is a first-year Yale Law School student and a proud Trumbull College alum (moorah!). She is also a New York City native, which means that she has very strong opinions on pizza and bagels. Shannon graduated from Yale College in 2022, where she majored in Political Science, served as a TroCo FroCo, and did a bunch of extracurriculars and internships related to journalism, women’s rights, public policy, and law. (For the Trumbull class of 2028 — your FroCos were her frosh. Time flies!) After graduating, Shannon stayed in New Haven to work as the Community Human Rights Fellow at Yale Law School’s Orville H. Schell, Jr. Center for International Human Rights. In her fellowship, she focused on addressing global gender inequality and human rights by supporting the mandate of the U.N. Working Group on Discrimination Against Women and Girls. Outside of law, Shannon is a huge fan of Taylor Swift, cats, long-form journalism, art museums, used bookstores, Veep, public transportation, and breakfast food. She can’t wait to meet new generations of Trumbullians!
