The First-Year Counselor Program (FroCos) was established in 1938 and has been ever since an intrinsic and essential component of Yale’s advising system for first-year students. The program has evolved in many ways over the years, but the general purpose of the program has remained the same: to help ease the transition of incoming first-years to the academic, social, and cultural life of Yale College. Trumbull is lucky to have a team of great First-Year Counselors. Together they make Bingham an especially wonderful place for all first-year Trumbull students.
Sara de Ángel
Sara (she/her) was born and raised in Caguas, Puerto Rico. She is an Applied Math major with a concentration in Algorithms and Numerical Methods, and serves as the Chair of the Applied Math Departmental Student Advisory Committee. She has loved working on math research projects, and she’s had a lot of odd jobs around campus–feel free to ask her about any of them! She also likes taking Portuguese classes, hanging out in the math lounge (the best study spot on campus), and lately she’s been very tuned in to the World Cup. In her free time, you’ll probably find her at St. Anthony Hall, grabbing a cortado at The Elm, or spending time at Saint Thomas More. She is so excited to meet the new class of Trumbullians. Amaré Fields
Amaré (he/him) is our resident Pacific Northwesterner, born and raised in Rainier Beach, Seattle, Washington. When he’s not running in circles with the varsity Track and Field team, you can likely catch him zipping around campus on a blue bicycle—which he claims has had a greater ROI than Nvidia stock. In school, Amaré is studying English despite being fluent in the language, while also pursuing a concentration in Creative Writing, particularly poetry. This summer, he spent time in the Midwest, refining his poetics at the University of Iowa’s Graduate Writers’ Workshop program. In the fall, Amaré looks forward to serving on the Windham-Campbell Student Committee, where he will meet and assist the eight recipients of this year’s prize. Aside from writership, Amaré actively calls upon students and faculty alike to engage in open and thoughtful conversations across difference. He creates space for this form of dialogue through both a civil-discourse non-profit based in Oxford, ”THINK for Academia”, and as a Cultivating Conversations Fellow. As for his pursuits, you can find Amaré being creative in fashion, writing, modeling, making auto-tuned music, and his newly acquired passion for portrait photography. When asked about Trumbull, Amaré responded, “Moo-rah.” He refused to elaborate. He is beyond ecstatic to welcome in and get to know this year’s class of Trumbullians. Mooooo-rah!
Valerie Henriquez
Valerie (she/her) is from Long Island, New York, and is majoring in the History of Science, Medicine, and Public Health on the pre‑med track. When she’s not in the Trumbull Buttery working through PSETs or essays, she can be found at the Yale LGBTQ Center, where she is part of the student staff and plans events which she invites everyone to attend this coming semester. At Yale, Valerie also serves as a Marketing Outreach Coordinator for the Office of Career Strategy (she’s always happy to look over a résumé) and has mentored high school students across New Haven through Simulation Academy at Yale. She also volunteers with HAVEN Free Clinic and conducts research on AI robotic surgery. Outside of academics, Valerie loves reading literary fiction and is the proud parent of four pets, two dogs and two cats, which she will happily talk about for hours and show pictures of to anyone who asks. She is happy to welcome the class of 2030 into the best residential college Yale has to offer…TRUMBULL!
Noah Killeen
Noah (he/him) is from Goodyear, Arizona (yes, like the blimp). He is majoring in Ethics, Politics, and Economics and is interested in pursuing a career in law. Around campus, Noah works as a Recruitment Coordinator for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, previously served as President of the Yale Democracy Project, and was a board member of the Yale Model United Nations Team (MUNTY). Last fall, he studied abroad in Freiburg, Germany and somehow managed to visit 13 countries along the way. Outside of class, Noah is usually running, working out, listening to podcasts, or scrolling TikTok (though slowly cutting down my screen time…). Some of his favorite Yale memories have been made in the Trumbull buttery, during meals with first-year suitemates in the dining hall, or hanging out during duty nights. He is hyped to welcome the newest Trumbullians and hopes to help make your first year just as memorable as his!
Bruno Kai Ong
Bruno is a senior from San Francisco, California, studying Applied Math and Energy Studies. A proud Trumbullian, he has shown his devotion to the college as a buttery worker, bartender, enthusiastic IM participant, and Co-President of Trumbull College Council, planning the all-important Trumbull formals and study breaks. Beyond Trumbull, Bruno has conducted data analysis on food waste in the Office of Sustainability, served as a data science undergraduate learning assistant, competed with the Club Triathlon team, and co-led Asian-ish, an affinity group on campus. In his free time, Bruno enjoys cooking, running, sewing, watching the Warriors, and spending time at the beach. He is excited to welcome the Class of 2030 to the best college at Yale. Moo-rah!
Gus Renzin
Hi there! My name is Gus (he/him), and I’m from Hastings-on-Hudson, NY. I’m majoring in Global Affairs and focus specifically on how the clean energy transition can drive economic development around the world. I’m also pursuing the Education Studies certificate and have spent the past three years working at Augusta Lewis Troup, a public elementary school just up the road from Trumbull (if you ever want to discuss Percy Jackson or need help with long division, I’m your guy). Outside the classroom, I’m involved with FOOT, the Yale Farm, Camp Kesem, Dwight Hall, and the Yale Buddhist Student Community. Most of the time, though, you can find me hanging around in Trumbull, and I’m so excited to welcome the Class of 2030!
Vivian Wu
Vivian (she/her) is from the Bay Area, California (west coast best coast!). She is majoring in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB) and has loved getting to explore classes across Yale’s many amazing departments. On campus, she conducts research on genes involved in neurological disorders and spent a summer in Hong Kong researching Alzheimer’s disease. Outside of the lab and classroom, Vivian is a huge sports fan and loves watching basketball, football, soccer, and rugby. Some of her favorite Yale memories have come from playing and traveling with the rugby team, including trips to Portugal and Ireland, as well as spending a month in New Zealand one summer. She loves making Spotify playlists, exploring new restaurants, and watching reality TV. Vivian is so excited to welcome the Class of 2030 to the best residential college at Yale. She can’t wait to meet the newest Trumbullians and chat about anything and everything. Moo-rah!
Fthia Yousif
Fthia (she/her) is a senior from Manchester, New Hampshire. She’s majoring in Ethnicity, Race, & Migration with certificates in Human Rights and Education Studies. Fthia is an aspiring attorney passionate about public interest and social justice works. On campus, she’s been most involved with the Yale College Executive Committee, the Admissions Office, and the Black Muslim Students Association. You can find her trying different New Haven cafes, procrastinating in the Bingham basement, relaxing on the hammocks in the Trumbull courtyard, or convincing anyone who will listen that the Celtics are the greatest NBA franchise. Her favorite part of Trumbull is the community, and she cannot wait to welcome you all to the absolute best residential college at Yale!!! MOO-RAHHHHH!
