Ever have an idea for an invention? Discover pearls and pitfalls of entrepreneurship from a Yale philosophy major turned biotech innovator. Dr. Silverberg graduated from Yale (TC) in 1990 and has served as president of the Santa Barbara Yale Club. He attended UCSF for medical school. He went to Manhattan Eye & Ear for a residency in ophthalmology, then completed his training at UCLA Stein Eye Institute where he did a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and ocular motility. He currently serves as Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and Volunteer Clinical Instructor at UCLA Stein Eye Institute. Dr Silverberg is repeatedly recognized by Castle Connoly as one of the nation’s Top Doctors. He has been selected as the ophthalmology consultant to the popular TV series CSI (Crime Scene Investigation). As a volunteer for SEE (Surgical Eye Expeditions), he has performed eye surgeries in Kenya, India, Fiji and Vietnam. Dr Silverberg invented Upneeq, the first FDA approved treatment for ptosis (droopy eyelid).
