Bio:

Kyle Gibson, an award-winning journalist, writer and producer, is the Founding Executive Producer and Managing Editor of Women in the World, a global summit series whose mission is to illuminate the pressing international issues of our time through vividly-produced live narratives.   The summit series, presented by Tina Brown Media in partnership with The New York Times, features an annual three-day, 20-hour gathering at Lincoln Center, attended by an audience of nearly 3000 and by millions more digital viewers.  The 2016 annual summit garnered more than 6 billion media impressions.  Kyle was instrumental in the summit’s original development in 2009 and has since overseen every Women in the World event, as well as the expansion of the series to Dubai, London, Delhi, Sao Paolo, and cities across the US.   She has also developed and overseen summits in Washington, D.C. and New Orleans on issues of innovation, America’s criminal and social justice systems, the American military and America’s role in the world.

A longtime producer for ABC News, where her work garnered a number of honors including several individual Emmy awards, Kyle covered stories around the world during the final decade of the Cold War for the acclaimed broadcast Nightline with Ted Koppel. She was later appointed as a lead producer for Diane Sawyer during the launch year of Prime Time Live.  For more than 15 years, Kyle’s assignments spanned the world:  the civil war in El Salvador, the drug wars in Colombia, the First Intifada in Palestine and Israel, the fall of the Berlin Wall and its impact across Eastern Europe, the Armenian earthquake of 1989, the K.G.B.’s p.r. blitz in the final days of the U.S.S.R—featuring one of the first western interviews with the head of the K.G.B., Castro’s Cuba, Noriega’s dictatorship in Panama and the American invasion of Panama, coup attempts in South America, as well as events across Asia.

In Beijing, on the scene of the violent crackdown in Tiananmen Square in 1989, Kyle received critical praise for her live reporting from the massacre for ABC News Special Reports throughout the night of June 3rd into the dawn of June 4th, and for her continued reporting from the streets of Beijing in the weeks that followed.  She later contributed to a Peabody-Award winning documentary about the massacre presented by Ted Koppel.

During the presidency of George H.W. Bush and the Persian Gulf War, Kyle was appointed to the post of White House Correspondent for ABC News.  She covered President Bush on his travels to the U.S.S.R., Europe, South America, Asia and Australia.

Kyle is also the co-author–with Ted Koppel–of a book about Nightline as a mirror on history.  After 9/11 she developed a private summit for top U.S. foreign-policy officials, and in 2003 she oversaw the development of an ABC News documentary on the decision-making behind the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

In 2007-2008 Kyle served as the lead content producer for the Premiere World Science Festival, in New York City, for which she collaborated with the founder of the festival, quantum-physicist Brian Greene, and with the late Oliver Sacks and several Nobel laureates.

Kyle is a native of Iowa and received her B.A. from Yale University.
