TRUMBULL COLLEGE: October 21, 2024
This gorgeous weather is really something, isn’t it?! Hope you’re taking a moment to enjoy it. I also hope your breaks were restorative and wonderful! October break always seems to come at the perfect time – when we really need it.
I am grateful for a trip we took to Niantic, CT, where we rented a place on the beach – it was our third time doing this particular trip during October break. We didn’t get to do it last year, so I was really itching to get there this year! Though it was a bit chilly at times, the weather was otherwise extraordinary. We enjoyed beautiful sunrises, crashing waves, sandcastles, kite-flying and time with my parents and sister on Saturday. The town of Niantic is particularly cute (and home to a Trumbull junior :)), with an enormous used bookstore called the Book Barn and some great local eats. We traveled around CT quite a bit actually. We went up to Mystic and visited our beluga pals at Mystic aquarium and went down to Ridgefield, where we saw an awesome concert featuring Zakir Hussain and Rahul Sharma – Head Hyder and Associate Head Sharif-Hyder were there, too!
Whatever you did over the past few days, I hope you’re rested, feeling well and doing well. I didn’t get much work done over break, but I’m rested and restored, which is really important, too. My point is: Don’t be too hard on yourself if you intended to catch up on work and didn’t get much done!
I wish you all the best as we approach the official midterm date this Friday, October 25th (scroll down to see “Upcoming Dates and Deadlines”). Happy to meet with you (see below) if you want to chat this week. Please keep in mind that this week, I have multiple blocks of OPEN Zoom office hours (see below). These are for quick meetings (5-10min) about academic progress, seeking extra help in a course, etc…I’m here.
Fun fact: Though Alice is nearing the end of her second year here in Trumbull, yesterday, October 20th was her 21st anniversary as a staff-member at Yale! Congratulations, Alice! I am so thankful to have you as a partner here in Trumbull!!
Take care of yourselves. Five more weeks until our next break! ;) Have a great week!
