TRUMBULL COLLEGE: November 18, 2024
Hope you’re all doing well as we approach the break next week! As you know, Registration for Spring 2025 opens up this week, starting today with Class of 2025. If you didn’t take advantage of the “Advising Period”, it’s still okay to reach out to your College Adviser, Departmental Adviser and/or DUS! The Registrar’s Office has an open Zoom hour on Thursday if you have technical questions about registration, and you can also e-mail them at registrar@yale.edu, particularly if you encounter a technical problem that isn’t already answered here: https://registration.yale.edu/faqs.
This is also an opportunity to remind you to please %20alice.kustenbauder@yale.edu">copy Alice on e-mails to me. She can answer many academic questions and she is amazing at keeping me on track. Also, feel free to stop by the office when you have a question (We have snacks!! ;)).
Since there won’t be Dean’s Notes next week, I’ll also take a moment now to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. Please excuse my mushy/cheesy language here, but I mean it: If you didn’t already know this, Dr. Singh and I got married just a few months before I started this role. Therefore, Trumbull is the only home that we (and Sahej!) have ever had as a family! The people who make Trumbull what it is are like family, including all of you. Thank you for that. Special thanks to our amazing FroCos (Amber, Audrey, Madeline, Meridian, Timmy, Stacey & Victoria) whose warmth, enthusiasm and creativity have been essential in creating community in Bingham and among our frosh. And of course, HUGE thank you to Alice – I am so grateful for her daily collaboration, her brilliance, and her friendship.
I hope that I’ll get to see many of you at the Harvest Dinner on Thursday in the dining hall. Thanks to our HoC office, Thursday’s Harvest dinner is a Family Dinner (no cost to off-campus students who aren’t on the meal plan).
I think most everyone has a busy week ahead, but break isn’t far away – hang in there! Be safe and have fun at The Game! All the best to our football players! Have a great week and break!
Pro-tip: Spend a little bit of time looking at what’s coming up for you after break. This break is coming one week later than usual, so it’s going to be a sprint to the finish when we get back. I don’t want that to be a surprise for folks!!
TC’26: The 2025-2026 FroCo Application is now open. Please Save-the-date for our Trumbull FroCo Info Session: Tuesday, January 14th, 2025 @6pm in the Fellows’ Lounge (2nd floor of Entryway K).
Meeting with me
To make an appointment, please use the Calendly scheduling tool, https://calendly.com/dean_c, or reach out to Alice with any scheduling issues. For in-person meetings, please come to the office. We’re right here in Trumbull G104, which you can access across from Entryway A or through Entryway G. Zoom meetings (including open Zoom office hours) will be through my Zoom page: https://yale.zoom.us/my/skchandhoke.
My OPEN ZOOM office hours for each week are listed on the top of my Calendly page. When you click on the Zoom link, you will be placed into a waiting room. I will speak to students (one-on-one) in the order they “arrive.” My upcoming open hours are (tentatively) on Wednesday, November 20th (4:30-5:30pm) and Thursday, November 21st (4:00-5:30pm) – I don’t think I’ll have Friday open Zoom this week, but please check the little blurb on Calendly later in the week.
Please note that I teach on Wednesday mornings during the fall term.
ACADEMICS
Are you on health hold? You will not be able to register for Spring term classes until you resolve this. Log into Health On Track to see what you are missing and take the necessary actions. Any required vaccines are easily obtained through Student Health (203-432-0312 or via MyChart), as are tests to verify earlier vaccinations. If necessary, you may request an extension, which will temporarily remove the health hold while you arrange vaccinations or gather documentation. The health requirements–vaccines against measles, mumps, rubella, chickenpox and meningitis–are critical to protecting everyone on campus from outbreaks of these preventable illnesses.
Thinking about taking a class outside of Yale College? Please take a look at these two important – and helpful! – sites:
- relevant Yale College policies: YCPS, Section L. Special Academic Arrangements
- the Registrar’s “how to” guide: Cross-School Course Registrations Processes
Registration Real-time Help: Members of the Registrar’s Office and ITS are holding an Open Zoom Registration Office Hour on Thursday, November 21, 11am-12pm (noon). Drop-in with technical questions you may have about registering for next semester’s classes.

Degree Audit displays the Yale College degree requirements that you have already completed and those that are still pending. A “Look Ahead” feature shows you how future course enrollment might apply toward your degree. If you believe that academic information in your degree audit is incorrect, contact our office.
