Welcome back Trumbullians!
I hope you had a good and relaxing fall break. I expect that you are surviving the onslaught of midterms. There were only a couple of events this past week. However, during the break, on Saturday evening (10/18), there was a pleasant surprise at the Dining Hall that was entitled “Classic Whiffenpoofs”. The event was organized by a Trumbull Fellow Peter Sipple.
On Monday afternoon (10/20), we hosted a Tea with Mikhail Zygar at the HoC House, where we discussed world politics from the viewpoint of an exile. While there weren’t any book giveaways this time at the Tea, there were scrumptious snacks many Trumbullians and other students enjoyed at the Tea.
On Thursday evening (10/23), there was a special Fellows event at the HoC House where four of your peers were as they are recipients of the Stephen S. Gurney Summer Travel Fellowship.
· Claire Cummings ’26 (Global Affairs major and member of the Crew Team) spoke about a cycling tour through several western states exploring culture, religion, and music.
· Benjamin Hernandez ’26 (History major with Spanish certificate, and previous YDN staff) spoke about his journey through France, Turkey, and Italy to explore origins and craft of perfumery.
· Astou Nkouyate ’26 (Economics major with German certificate) spoke about living, teaching, and volunteering at a monastery in Nepal with some unexpected anecdotes.

If we have to cancel for low enrollment, or there are last minute no shows after you have signed up, it affects future programming of similar events. I ask that if you sign up for events or trips but then discover that you are unable to attend, I expect you to let us know promptly so another student can take your spot.
On Saturday afternoon (11/1) the NACC is hosting its Powwow of Light at the Schwarzman Center from 12-5pm. It is open to the public and a family friendly event. At the powwow they will have a few spot dances, which involves giveaway items, such as t-shirts, fidgets, mugs, etc.
Susan Youssef, the Film Advisor at Center for Collaborative Arts and Media and Instructor at Residential College Seminar, Sufism and 21st Century Film would like to invite you to a special workshop with Jude Weng, the visionary behind Only Murders in the Building, Black-ish, The Summer I Turned Pretty, and many more top-tier TV and streaming shows you know and love. Together, they have crafted a session that focuses deeply on the craft of directing - a rare opportunity to learn directly from one of the industry’s leading voices. CCAM Film Advisor Office Hours: Jude Weng (11/3, 6–8pm). This talk will not be recorded - it’s meant to be experienced live and in the room. The event is free and open to the entire Yale community.
Jared Rhee would like to invite you to a conference entitled Reimagining Elite Higher Education. The conference will take place at Yale Law School from November 7-9 and will convene students from schools across the nation for the purpose of reimagining the role of higher education in society. Universities have recently become a target for political attacks and federal funding cuts. Universities have the potential and resources to act as champions of the common good. The objective of the conference is to work towards a future where higher education institutions are values-oriented and reflect vision for a better world. They already have 100+ students from 30+ schools in attendance and hope to have great Yale turnout! Their application form can be found here. They are seeking support for the visiting students, and if you can house a college student, please go here!
Periodically, I would like to share some of your personal adventures and experiences. So please simply write to me or we can discuss in-person.
Sincerely, MOO-RAH!
Fahmeed Hyder, HoC Trumbull
