Hello, Trumbullians!

Last Friday evening, there were two Trumbull events happening almost simultaneously. The last Fireside Chat at the Head’s House, a collaborative effort between Dean Chandhoke and myself, was thoroughly enjoyed by First Years with their respective FroCo’s. Also, the inaugural Trumbull event called the Trumbull Tellers was a hit! This was a Poetry Slam held in the Common Room, hosted by Associate Head Anita Sharif-Hyder and First Year Troy Meggie. There were many Trumbullians who shared their poetry, with our own Adam Sexton as the MC. On Monday evening, the first of many Mellon Forum dinners was held at the Head’s House. It was a full house with great presentations! Again, many thanks to Adam Sexton and many Grad Affiliates for their help. On Thursday afternoon, several Trumbullians learned about the Fulbright Scholarship and other prestigious programs at the Head’s House from our Tea guest, Mohammed Niamat Elahee (Quinnipiac Professor, Trumbull Fellow).

Are you ready for the weekend and The Game? By the time you read this note, our campus will receive many guests from Harvard, some of whom will stay in our living spaces. On Saturday, buses from PWG will be your best bet. Please arrive early at PWG for a raffle, which, if enough Trumbullians partake, we may win a Study Break.

Please note that at The Game, large banners/signs will not be permitted. Security at The Game will be tight and strict. So please use your best judgment to be safe and help your friends to do the same.

When you return after Thanksgiving, the theatrical events with Trumbullians will continue. In early to mid-December are Alice by Heart (TBD; November 30 December 2) featuring director and musical director featuring Sophie DvorakArsenic and Old Lace (TBD; November 30-December 2) featuring performers Samantha Fisher (as Teddy Brewster), Tybee Feiler (as Elaine Harper), and Serengeti Cox-Rodriguez (as Jonathan Brewster), and Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 (Theater and Performance Studies Black Box; December 7-9) featuring performer Jordi Bertrán Ramírez (as Anatole Kuragin).

As mentioned in last week’s Trumbulletin, please be on the lookout for various campus-wide events that will deal with dialogues regarding difficult topics, specifying the policies and resources to support Yale students on freedom of expression. Dean Pericles Lewis’ email on November 15 mentions these events and other resources for the days and weeks ahead.

The families and offices of the Head and Dean wish you a happy and safe Thanksgiving break!

Moo-Rah!

Sincerely,
Head Hyder
