Trumbulletin 2-22-22

Trumbulletin for Tuesday, February 22nd

Final Cut Preliminary Round Competition occurs TONIGHT (Tuesday, Feb. 22nd)

Tonight (from 5:15 to about 6:15), in our dining hall, two Trumbull teams of student/chefs will compete to represent Trumbull in Yale Hospitality’s upcoming Final Cut competition.  A decision on the winner will be made and announced by 7:00 p.m.

Of course, we have two wonderful teams. Either one of which can represent us well in the final competition.  The two teams are:

Team Blu:  Byron Huang, Hedy Tung & Alex Mirrer

Team #2:  Phaedra Letrou, Diego Miro-Rivera & Hamzah Jhaveri

Come to cheer both teams on!!  They will be cooking toward the beginning of the time period and presenting their plates to a team of judges at about 6:15.  I am also very pleased to announce that in addition to judges appointed by dining, Jasmina Besirevic, who served as Dean of Trumbull for many years and who loves food, will be returning to Trumbull as one of our judges.  Dean Chandhoke and I wish both teams the very best.  Tonight, we will each remain completely and totally impartial.  Then when one of our teams goes on to the college wide competition, we will become completely and totally biased because we know, for sure, that Trumbullians are the best.

A Plea from Dining:  Return their Dishes (please)

It happens every year on a big scale:  Lots and lots of dishes and silverware disappear from the dining hall.  Think about it:  There are well over 400 of us.  If we each take one dish, that’s over 400 dishes that dining has to replace. The more money that is spent on replacing dishes the less money there is for food.

So, look around your rooms, the bathrooms, etc.  Bring all dining dishes and utensils back to the dining hall.  I assure you they will be very, very grateful.

A Special Lunch was served in Trumbull Today & We have Four People to Thank

Here are the special dishes served today in honor of Black History Month (and for our pleasure) and who made them:

Phil Pervis, Head GSA: Spicy Serrano Shrimp with Rice

Carolyn Robinson, Pantry Worker: Homestyle Collard Greens and Pulled Pork with Housemade BBQ Sauce

Danika Streater, GSA: Candied Yams

Torquisha McCall, Pantry Worker: Baked Macaroni and Cheese and 3 Green Sauté with Smoked Turkey

(I was able to capture a picture of three of them today.  See below.)

If you enjoyed their dishes, be sure to thank them.  The entire dining staff works hard on our behalf every single day and I, for one, am very grateful to be one of their beneficiaries.
