Hello Trumbullians!
Last weekend, we had the New Haven bike race, where they blocked off certain roads around Old Campus. I didn’t receive any reports of too much disruption or injuries, for which I am thankful. Coming up this weekend in New Haven, the St. Basil Greek Festival is taking place. The food is really wonderful, and they are locally made people from the church.
There were several activities last week. The TrumSibs Ice Cream Social on Sunday late afternoon attracted lots of Trumbullians to the Courtyard. It was a beautiful day, and everyone seemed to enjoy the event. Then there was a Tea with Bijayini Satpathy on Tuesday afternoon (HoC House) and a Tea with Goodwin Liu on Friday noon (Common Room). Each Tea attracted very different student and faculty/staff groups, as the personalities are professionals in very different fields. Regardless, they were both well attended.
Below is the continuing list of events. Since the timing of events is subject to change, please look out for emails regarding each event.

The Yale Center for British Art (1080 Chapel Street), in collaboration with the Yale English Department’s Eighteenth- and Nineteenth-Century Colloquium, is hosting a panel discussion titled Blake: Word and Image on Thursday, September 25, from 4–5 pm, both in the Lecture Hall and via livestream. This event is held in conjunction with the exhibition William Blake: Burning Bright and will explore the dynamic relationship between word and image in Blake’s multimedia artistic career.
A part of my responsibility as HoC is to promote intellectual life. While we already have lined up some exciting speakers, please suggest a speaker (at Yale or beyond), or an activity. Please write to me.
On a personal note, I will be traveling to conferences in mid-to-late September. But you can always reach me by email. Additionally, Associate Head Anita Sharif-Hyder is also available should you wish to reach out by email for a meal or to have a brief chat. I remind you of the many resources that you have already heard about, but others you may discover by asking. Please continue to reach out to me by email, in the dining hall, or just find me at the office.
Sincerely, MOO-RAH!
Fahmeed Hyder, HoC Trumbull
