TrumBulletin 9-5-25

September 5, 2025

Hello Trumbullians!

Following the first week of classes, I am hoping that your semester is off to a great start. With the re-opening of the courtyard last weekend and much cooler weather, I’ve noticed many of you enjoying the Trumbull ambience, from daylight to past sunset. Since the deadline for the CPA Application is midnight Sunday (9/7), this past week I’ve been meeting with a lot of Trumbullians about their CPA projects. The first Tea of the academic year was held on Thursday (9/4) with Elijah Anderson presenting his life story encapsulated as “The Art and Science of Urban Ethnography”. The HoC house welcomed students, faculty, and staff from various parts of the campus. The narrative was personal and pioneering with discussions lasting long past the presentation.

Trumbull’s IM secretary team (Lily Hyde, Elena Ohe, Holly Tran, and Lindsay Willis) would like you to know that they will have SIX sports for Trumbull athletes to join. IMs are a great way to build community, stay active, and have fun with your friends. Please join regardless of prior experience! Even if you have barely played a sport or can only attend a couple of games, there is a place for you on Trumbull teams. The IM team hopes to bring back the Tyng Cup this year, so we need all hands on deck! Please join any of the GroupMes below to receive information about each sport’s weekly schedules. Also, follow @trumbull.ims on Instagram for full schedules, game pics, and event information! For any questions about the specifics or rules of any sport, please see the Yale IMs official website.

Josie Marks is the Donor Outreach Coordinator of the American Red Cross @ Yale. They are hosting drives again and would appreciate student participation! The American Red Cross @ Yale will host drives on September 17th and 18th (10am – 4pm) at Dwight Hall Common Room.

Interested in making a difference? Join the Title IX Student Advisory Board. The Title IX Student Advisory Board is a group of Yale College and graduate and professional students who meet periodically to provide guidance and student perspectives to the Title IX Office. Advisory board members also participate in the development and implementation of initiatives to promote a climate of inclusion and respect at Yale. For more information and to apply, please visit the Title IX website or reach out directly to October Mohr (october.mohr@yale.edu) in the Title IX Office.

This note is specifically for upper-level students. Please note that your “new ID” distribution begins next week. Beginning September 8th (Monday) your “old IDs” will stop working. So Trumbullians who are sophomores, juniors, and seniors (basically all students except first year students), you MUST pick up your “new IDs” before that deadline.

A part of my responsibility as HoC is to promote intellectual life. While we already have lined up some exciting speakers, please suggest a speaker (at Yale or beyond), or an activity. Please write to me.

On a personal note, I will be traveling to conferences during middle to late September. But you can always reach me by email. Additionally, Associate Head Anita Sharif-Hyder is also available should you wish to reach out by email for a meal or to have a brief chat. I remind you of the many resources that you have already heard about, but others you may discover by asking. Please continue to reach out to me by email, in the dining hall, or just find me at the office.

Sincerely, MOO-RAH!

Fahmeed Hyder, HoC Trumbull
