Trumbull Notes 9-14-15

A New Year

It’s Rosh Hashanah. I wish all our Jewish students, resident fellows (and my own husband) a very happy and very, very sweet New Year.

We have tickets (free to you) for High Holy Day services for the Rosh Hashanah (Sept. 13-15) and Yom Kippur, Sept. 22-23. Notify Margaret Clark if you want tickets.

The semester is well underway. I wish the entire college a wonderful new academic year. Don’t forget to get those schedules signed and submitted!!!!

Sailing

The Sailing Trip is almost full but there are a few spots left. Sign up in the office for Saturday’s sailing trip out of Mystic, Ct. I have my fingers crossed for good weather. It’s a great time of year in that part of Connecticut. If you’ve signed up, do show up. The bus will appear outside our gates and we’ll be out there checking to see if everyone is there. If anything comes up and you are not going to be there email me right away. (That way we don’t hold up the bus waiting.)

A Missing Ice Bucket

Trumbull has long had a silver ice bucket that is engraved with the name of the college as well as the name of former Master of the College, Nicholas Spangler. It’s disappeared from the house. If anyone knows where it might be (maybe someone took it as a prank or as a souvenir?), know that it’s part of the history of the college and we would very much like to have it back. Anyone can return it and I’ll not ask questions. Please, please keep your eye out for it.

Like to Bake?

Become a Trum-Baker! Our Trumbull bakers have graduated. If you enjoy baking and would like to be on our Trumbull Bakers list, let us know. (You can do this by emailing Debbie Rueb. Tell her what sorts of things you like to bake and that you’d like to be on our list.) We buy the ingredients for you, provide a spot to bake (either in our student kitchen or the Master’s House kitchen) then we serve what you make.

Laundry Problems

We know you’ve been encountering problems in our laundry room. The credit card reader isn’t working. Deb Bellmore is on the case! The credit card machine should be fixed either today or tomorrow. Meanwhile, quarters do work. We’re sorry that this has happened.
